5c. Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive, Transport or Utilities
The Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive, Transport or Utilities award aims to highlight the rapidly emerging area of mobile connectivity in the telematics and utilities sectors, such as the use of mobile in enabling more effective management of utility supply and demand, from grid to meter level solutions, smart home gateways etc. As for telematics, it could include innovation that provides enhanced real-time traffic, transport tracking systems, remote diagnostics, for example. In particular we would like to draw attention to the market of Electric Vehicles, where utilities and telematics meet each other in a rapidly developing market where mobile communications is likely to play an increasing role.
The judges will shortlist five entries in this category, with one winner announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 28th February 2012.
Eligibility
This award is open to all organisations in the smart utilities, automotive and transport ecosystems that provide mobile connectivity based products, devices, solutions, applications or services.
This category is for commercially available products or services that that have been launched, or are in widespread market trials before the awards entry deadline of Wednesday 07th December 2011 at 5pm (GMT).
Please provide evidence in your entry to support this such as launch or trial dates, including details of countries or regions where the product/ device/ service/application is available or trial undertaken.

Judging criteria
The judges will be looking at how well entries meet the key criteria, as follows:
- Innovation in terms of functionality, technology, business models and market potential
- Usability: How simple/easy is it to use?
- Evidence of user take up and market success
