Best Advertising or Marketing on Mobile

McCann Worldgroup (Hong Kong) for Chok! Chok! Chok!

“With less and less people tuning in to traditional TV, Coca-Cola Hong Kong set out to transform the traditional TV experience in the new digital age with its highly successful summer promotional campaign “Chok! Chok! Chok!”

“Chok!”, meaning rapid motion, is the latest slang word used by Hong Kong teens. Riding on the popularity of this new slang word, we created a smartphone app to let teens catch tumbling bottle caps straight from the TV screen to win instant prizes, successfully turning a traditional TVC into Hong Kong and Asia’s first ever interactive gaming promotion.”

Judges’comments

“Great integrated advertising game on a smartphone app targeted at Coke drinkers which was good fun and also tracked back to increased sales to demonstrate its effectiveness”

GSMA mWomen Best Mobile Product or Service for Women in Emerging Markets

Asiacell for Almas Line

“Almas Line” is the name of the offer by Asiacell (Iraq’s second largest operator) conceived for, and sold exclusively to, Iraqi women. It consists of a SIM embedded with specifically designed features addressing the main barriers to women mobile usage in Iraq (price, harassment, cultural issues, concerns with technology, and technical illiteracy). Results have been spectacular: Asiacell now has 3.5 million female subscribers, half of which have joined since the launch of Almas line. Put differently, since Almas was launched Asiacell has acquired as many women subscribers as it had acquired in its first 11 years of operations!

Judges’comments

“Very smart, well thought out approach with measurable large scale impact directly to women. The idea of marketing the SIM as a premier line is brilliant. Appeals to deep traditional values, aspirational but not elitist”
