Bill Best

Bill Best is a 37 year veteran in the telecom industry with over 25 years specialising in mobile. Bill has his own independent consulting and advisory company called iacs. Bill is also a non-executive Director with Telsis and Ganesh Technologies and a member of the Advisory Board of JumpTap. Bill is a former CTO of the GSM Association, FirstMark Communications and One2One (now T-Mobile UK), and also worked as a Venture Partner with Saturn Ventures, a New York based VC. Earlier in his career Bill worked at Cellnet (now 02). Bill started his career with BT.

Scott A. Ellison is Vice President for IDC's Wireless and Mobile Communications, Wireless and Mobile Communications-Entertainment, Wireless Business Network Services, and Wireless Data Service QView analysis programs covering wireless and mobile communications in the consumer and business markets spaces. He joined MCI in Vienna, Virginia in 1995 where he addressed wireline interconnection and operational issues related to the introduction of competitive local exchange services, and later managed MCI's government relations efforts in the Pacific Northwest. In 1998, Mr. Ellison joined Destia Communications in New York. Upon the merger of Destia with Viatel, he became responsible for the integration and development of Viatel's marketing, branding and Internet efforts across Viatel's U.S. and European markets. He joined IDC in 2001.

Thomas Husson - JupiterResearch
Thomas Husson

As a senior analyst in the JupiterResearch Paris office, Thomas Husson covers European Mobile. In his role, he provides critical insight into how Europe's rapidly evolving wireless landscape is impacting consumer behaviour and business models. Before joining JupiterResearch in January 2005, Thomas spent almost six years at Bouygues Telecom (3rd French operator), first as Internet product manager and then as I-Mode product manager. Leading mobile analyst Paolo Pescatore has recently joined CCS Insight as director - operator strategy, content and applications. Paolo joins the CCS Insight team from IDC where he was research manager for the EMEA consumer wireless and mobile communications service. Paolo joined IDC's European Wireless and Mobile Communications expertise centre as a senior research analyst in April 2001. Daniel is a senior analyst in the mobile content and applications portfolio within Informa Telecoms & Media. He has built up a wide range of knowledge in his seven years in the telecoms industry and he has been able to apply this to many events, newsletters and reports he has been involved in. Daniel has worked in a research and analyst role within the mobile telecoms industry since 1999. He has worked extensively with professionals in the mobile content industry in planning high level events, as well as contributing to analytical newsletters and authoring an extensive range of management and strategic reports. Maarten Noyons

Maarten Noyons is founder and general manager of the International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), the leading awards for mobile games, sponsored and endorsed by the mobile entertainment industry. The Awards recognize innovation and creativity in mobile games as a main driver of growth in the industry.In his 25 year career in the media industry, Maarten has developed, produced, bought and sold innovative content and services on many digital platforms. Lars Vestergaard

Lars Vestergaard joined IDC in 1998 as a research analyst with IDC Denmark, and in 2001 joined IDC UK where he currently works as research director for the European Wireless and Mobile Communications group. In this role he is primarily responsible for research into the wireless enterprise market. In his roles at IDC, he has been responsible for regular vendor surveys and end-user research, market analysis, consulting support to clients, and management of both quantitative and qualitative research projects as well as running board-level workshops. Vestergaard is a well-regarded industry commentator and analyst, and is frequently quoted in the media. Andrew Gilbert - Qualcomm
Andrew Gilbert

Andrew Gilbert serves as Senior VP and President of QUALCOMM Europe. Prior to joining QUALCOMM, he spent 25 years in business development, sales, marketing and general management roles for telecommunications vendors in both Europe and the United States. His background includes several years at Motorola within the mobile radio division and a decade in the fixed line business. Andrew was involved in the introduction of several new communication technologies into the European market, including Frame Relay, ATM and IP networking, for companies such as Racal, N.E.T., JTec and SOMA Networks. Martin Garner

Martin Garner is Director of Wireless Intelligence, the Ovum GSMA joint venture, responsible for bringing the service to market and commercialising it. He has been involved with all Ovum Reports in mobile communications. Martin's 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry combine technical roles in product support with commercial and marketing aspects from government procurement and product management.

Pete Cunningham - Canalys

Pete Cunningham joined Canalys in May 2006. His responsibilities managing the company’s market-leading Smart Mobile Device Analysis services as well as providing clients with confidential advice on bringing new mobile devices and services to market, and how hardware and software vendors and operators should engage with each other. Peter Whitehead

Peter Whitehead is Financial Times Digital Business editor. He joined the Financial Times in 1987 as a sub-editor and held the positions of editorial training manager, deputy Weekend Financial Times editor, and Financial Times Reports editor before becoming editor of Digital Business. Previously, Peter worked for the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, Coventry Evening Telegraph and Golf World Magazine. Jane Vincent

Jane Vincent is Visiting Fellow with joined the University of Surrey's Digital World Research Centre: www.dwrc.ac.uk. Jane joined DWRC in 2001 following a career with BTplc and O2 that spanned three generations of the development of mobile phones. Signatory of the first GSM roaming agreement she played a key role in the early development of GSM and continues her international interests in mobile communications today as UK representative for the EU study group, researching 'Participation in Broadband Society'. Since joining DWRC she has conducted studies for the UMTS Forum and Vodafone and published work on the social shaping of mobile communications and on emotion and mobiles.

Sandy Shen - Gartner
Sandy Shen

Sandy Shen is a research director in Gartner's Mobile Devices and Consumer Services group, with more than seven years experience in the ICT industry. She covers consumer mobile applications including mobile payment, mobile TV, search, advertising, as well as mobile devices. She leads research on China’s mobile market, and has an in-depth understanding of the telecom ecosystem in the country. Prior to joining Gartner, Sandy worked for Siemens Mobile as a strategic marketing manager. Her primary duties included developing marketing strategies for key carriers and supporting customer-facing engagements. Sandy holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Shanghai International Studies University, and a master’s degree in business administration with a dual concentration of business strategy and finance from Wake Forest University in the United States.

Bengt Nordström - InCode Wireless
Bengt Nordström

Bengt Nordström is heading up inCode’s business in EMEA. He was the co-founder and CEO of Northstream AB, a Stockholm-based consulting company acquired by inCode in late 2005. His expertise includes overall business and technology planning, practical implementation and international operations. His career started in 1983 at Ericsson, where he successfully managed telecommunications projects in Africa, China and the United Kingdom. At Comviq GSM AB in Sweden, he was Project Manager of the buildout of one of the first commercial GSM networks in Europe. In 1992, Nordström was appointed to lead a consulting group for Comviq’s parent company, Kinnevik. Later, he served as CTO and Executive Director at Smartone in Hong Kong. Bengt has been active in the GSM Association, serving as Executive Committee Member and Chairman of the Asia Pacific Interest Group. A frequent conference speaker and media spokesperson, he is a board member of multiple wireless companies.

Svetlana Grant - Pyramid Research
Svetlana Grant

Based in London, Svetlana Grant is a Manager in the Communications, Media and Technology practice at Pyramid Research, responsible for coverage of the mobile, fixed line and Internet industries of Western Europe and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). She analyzes service provider and infrastructure supplier trends in Europe, focusing on the impact of market and technology dynamics and new business models on the greater communications industry. Laurie Benson - TIME Magazine
Laurie Benson

Laurie Benson was appointed Publishing Director for TIME magazine’s Europe, Middle East and Africa edition in March 2005. Based at the company’s London based international headquarters, Laurie has responsibility for TIME’s business across the territory, with sales teams reporting into her from across the Continent and South Africa. Laurie previously worked as part of the launch team for several US-based cable television networks, including HGTV and Oxygen media. She was most recently President of Sales and Marketing for The Hotel Networks. Laurie also worked with Turner Broadcasting as an Account Executive for CNN and as a senior salesperson for TIME magazine in Los Angeles and New York in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Romilly has worked for Oxfam in the UK for ten years. Previously she worked for Amnesty International. Romilly has a technical background, and a strong interest in how technology can reduce isolation and improve opportunities for people living in poor communities. In Oxfam, she has a networking role on the use of ICTs to support Oxfam's programme. Romilly supports the Oxfam policy team and technical staff around the world with research, learning and advice. Romilly works in the IT department as Technical Architect - working with others to develop the technical strategy. She also runs the team that delivers Oxfam's web and marketing systems.

Jessica Ekholm - Gartner
Jessica Ekhol

Jessica Ekholm is the lead analyst on consumer services for Eastern Europe as well as several Western European countries at Gartner. She drives Gartner’s coverage of forecasts and operator trends for these markets. Jessica also supports Gartner's ongoing mobile applications research globally. Before joining the consumer services team, Jessica worked as a senior business analyst for the Gartner Cross-Technology department, concentrating on financial sector and vendor clients in Europe.

Aloysius Choong - IDC
Aloysius Choong

Aloysius Choong is a Senior Market Analyst at IDC's Asia/Pacific Personal Systems Group. Ian is a Fellow of St Andrews Management Institute (consulting), and formerly Research Associate, Regulation Initiative, London Business School. He has taught executive programmes at London Business School, and is founding director, Executive MBA Programme, Cass (City University Business School. Ian started his career in marketing with Unilever, where he was a marketing manager in Belgium. Ian trained at the London Business School and has followed a career in management education.

Nick Jones - Gartner
Nick Jones

Nick Jones is a vice president in Gartner Research. His research focuses primarily on mobile and wireless business and technology. His research coverage includes business-to-employee (B2E) and business-to-consumer (B2C) applications of mobility; mobile application development and delivery technologies including J2ME, and compact .NET; mobile payments; and emerging trends and technologies in the wireless and mobile industry. His secondary research interests include the social impact of technology, and European IT issues. Prior to joining Gartner, Nick gained wide experience in IT from both the user and vendor perspectives. He has worked for consulting organizations and software tools vendors in a variety of roles including technical consulting, product management, product selection and evaluation, globalization and product architecture.

Ken Banks - Kiwanja
Ken Banks

Ken Banks, founder of kiwanja.net, specialises in the application of mobile technology for positive social and environmental change in the developing world. He combines over 22 years in I.T. with over 14 years experience living and working throughout Africa in countries including Nigeria, where he ran a primate sanctuary. In 1999 he graduated from Sussex University with honours in Social Anthropology with Development Studies. Ken has recently been interviewed by numerous top tier publications, and was invited to take part in an Aspen Institute round table discussion on the use of mobiles in activism and civic engagement. Ken has been awarded a MacArthur Foundation grant to continue his work, and was short listed for a mobile industry award for the development of FrontlineSMS.

Kyriacos Sabatakakis

Dr. Kyriacos Sabatakakis is an Executive Partner with Accenture in the Communications & High-Tech industry leading Accenture's activities in wireless networks. He is also Managing Director of Accenture in Greece. During his almost 20-year career in telecommunications, he has been active in wireless communications where he has led multiple international projects in the area. XJ Wang - Yankee Group
XJ Wang

XJ Wang is the vice president of Asia-Pacific Research at Yankee Group. In this role, he leads a team of analysts that investigate market and service opportunities, and technology connectivity trends in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a recognized subject-matter expert in messaging and value added service platforms. He was the first in the wireless industry to introduce the push-to-X concept, which revolutionarily positioned push-to-talk type of services from friendly user interface (UI) perspective.
