Category 7: Government Mobile Excellence Awards

The government awards programme has been expanded into a suite of four awards, recognising world-class leadership in the establishment of sound telecommunications regulatory policies and practices, based on clear principles that encourage private investment, such as policies that support transparency, competition and regulatory independence.

The Government Mobile Excellence Awards winners will be announced on Monday 24 February at the Ministerial Programme as part of Mobile World Congress.

The four award categories are:

7a. Government Leadership Award

This discretionary award is an honour chosen by the GSMA Director General which recognises world-class leadership in the establishment of sound telecommunications regulatory policies, based on clear principles that encourage private investment, such as policies that support transparency, competition and regulatory independence.

7b. Spectrum for Mobile Broadband Award

This award will be presented to the government that demonstrates in 2013-2014 the most transparent and stable long-term spectrum policy roadmap.

7c. Economic Policy for Sustainable Mobile Growth Award

This award recognises the government who makes economic policy decisions that incentivise investment and encourage the adoption and usage of mobile services.

7d. Connected Government Award

This award recognises the government that has actively encouraged the innovative use of mobile technologies that deliver long term and sustainable socio-economic benefit and wellbeing for their citizens.
