6f. Outstanding Overall Mobile Technology – The CTO’s choice

Since the inception of the Global Mobile Awards in 1995, the Technology Category has been a mainstay of the programme. It has had a rich history of innovative winners from all over the globe and included both big and small companies picking up the prize along the way.

The rapid and varied technology enhancements have been the lifeblood of the mobile industry and have been at the heart of making this industry one of the biggest in the world. Certainly no other single product touches as many people on the planet as Mobile.

A few years back the GMA formed a special panel made up of Chief Technical Officers from sixteen operators with representation from every continent. This panel of judges has picked the winner in the Best Technology Breakthrough previously but this year the GSMA announces a brand new category for our CTO panel to judge.

This year, for the first time, we will celebrate the Outstanding Overall Mobile Technology winner. The winner from each of our five Best Technology categories; Best Infrastructure, Best Technology Breakthrough, Best Cloud Based technology, Best Safeguarding Solution and Outstanding LTE contribution, will be put before our expert panel of CTO judges to select what, in their opinion, is the Outstanding Overall Mobile Technology winner for 2013.

The Overall Mobile Technology winner will stand as the ‘supreme’ champion of mobile technology for 2013 and as such be recognised with this special award.

Eligibility:

This category is not open to entry. Entries must be made in the relevant technology category.

Judging criteria:

The overall Mobile Technology winner will be picked on the following main criteria:

In the opinion of the CTO judging panel, it has the potential for the greatest impact on the mobile industry
The entry has stand-out credentials in innovation, customer experience enhancement, cost reductions, extending the mobile eco-system or improving Mobile Operator revenues
The entry has some unique features and functions and displays some original thinking on behalf of the entrant

This prestigious new award will be announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 26th February 2013.
