Category 3a: Best Mobile Handset or Device

About this category:

Innovation in the design of mobile handsets, terminals, smart phones or devices drives greater user interest and greater usage of mobile services. New form factors, innovative designs and interfaces and exciting functionality are all part of the formula for a winning mobile handset/device product.

The GSMA has combined what was previously two categories (for 2G and 3G phones) into one category, making this award possibly the most sought after, and fiercely contested prizes in the mobile industry. One thing is for sure, the competition will be hotter than ever at the Mobile World Congress in 2007. This award is an opportunity to take home the most coveted prize in the global mobile world.

The Best Mobile Handset or Device award is open to products supporting the GSM family (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA and HSDPA/ mobile broadband) networks including handsets, Smart-phones, feature phones, embedded laptops, wireless enabled Personal Digital Assistants (PDA's), Pocket PC's, wireless plug and play devices (such as data cards), camera and video phones.

The Best Mobile Handset or Device award recognises the combination of design, technical excellence and functionality that comes together to position a product at the top of its market.
