8b) Best Mobile Connected Device (Non Handsets)

The Best Mobile Connected Device (for non-handsets) category aims to highlight the critically important appliances, gadgets, equipment, services and other kit that enhance handset usage or enable other devices to connect to the wireless world. Entry is open to products supporting the GSM family (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA and HSPA/ Mobile Broadband/LTE) of networks including wireless plug and play devices (such as data cards or dongles), camera and video phones, headsets, keyboards, screens, as well as notebooks, laptops, PDAs, and even games consoles and other consumer electronics devices that connect to other users in the wireless world. The use of embedded devices to enrich wireless connectivity is also included here. This category also includes home connectivity solutions such as pico cell/routers.

(Please note: Enterprise related products should be entered in Best Mobile Enterprise Solution and chip sets and other components should be entered in Best Technology Breakthrough).

The judges will shortlist four to six entries in this category, with one winner announced at the world’s leading mobile communications event, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday 16th February 2010.

This category is for commercially available devices, launched and available on the market today. Entrants may also consider entering the GSMA’s competition for innovative, pre-commercial embedded mobile applications and solutions, more information

Eligibility:

This award is open to all organisations involved in providing wireless connectivity other than through handset devices and for those organisations providing enhanced capability to handsets. The entry must have been commercially available prior to the closing deadline of the awards Monday 23rd November 2009 (5pm GMT).

All entries must be submitted by Monday 23rd November 2009 (5pm GMT).

In order to ensure a consistent approach for our judges, entries must be submitted using the Mobile Connected Device (Non Handsets) entry form . Entries not using the web based entry form will not be considered.

In addition to completing the online entry form, it is strongly recommended that you submit an illustration or demonstration of your service/URL so that our judges can see your submitted entry either online or downloaded to a mobile device. You can do this in the following ways:

Upload screen shots. An upload facility will be provided via a link in your confirmation email once your entry has been submitted. You will have the ability to upload a maximum of 3 files to accompany your entry up to a maximum file size of 10MB each. Files can be a .jpeg (for pictures), .mpeg (for video) or .pot for PowerPoint. Other formats will be considered upon request to upload@globalmobileawards.com
