Rules of Entry

Eligibility:

The GSMA's Global Mobile Awards 2010 are open to all eligible mobile industry and supporting industry companies in the broad eco-system, as defined in the individual category eligibility descriptions (including GSMA Members, Associate Members and Non-members).

All products, services, applications, solutions, initiatives etc entered must be supportive of, or be deployed over mobile networks that use the GSM family of mobile technologies e.g. GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA and HSPA.

All products or services submitted for the Global Mobile Awards must have been commercially available ahead of the awards deadline of Monday 23rd November 2009, except for category 4b, the Mobile Money for the Unbanked award, where trials and pilots are eligible for these nascent type services - providing the trial/pilot involves more than 1,000 users.

Products can be manufactured, or service provided anywhere in the world.

The Mobile Innovation - Grand Prix (category 7) is judged separately, through a process comprising physical pitches and competition events and as such is subject to different rules, eligibility, criteria and judging processes. Please follow this link to the Mobile Innovation Programme

Agreement:
The 'Rules of Entry' as defined here for the Global Mobile Awards 2010 ("Rules") incorporate the Awards General Terms & Conditions. The Terms shall govern in event of conflict. You agree to be bound by the Rules and Terms by submitting an entry for the Awards.

Awards Deadline and Closing Date:
The final closing date for entries to the Global Mobile Awards is Monday 23rd November 2009 (5pm GMT).

Entry Form Submission:
Entries must be submitted online via the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards Web Site with credit card or bank transfer of the appropriate fee.

Language:
Entries will only be accepted when submitted in the English language. When uploading supporting files (where accepted - see entry process & formats for individual categories) please supply with either an English text translation of materials submitted in an accompanying word document.

Entry Acknowledgement:
Following electronic confirmation of receipt of the entry form by the GSMA, you will be emailed with a Unique Reference Number. This number should be stated on any payment details or marked clearly on any supporting materials submitted.

Multiple Entries:
There is no maximum number of entries permitted from a single organisation. You can submit as many different entries to as many categories as you would like. However, each individual entry submitted is liable to a separate entry fee.

Entry Fees:
€430 per entry for GSM Association Members & Associate Members
€480 per entry for Non GSM Association Members & Associate Members
€160 per entry for Category 4a & 4b: Social and Economic Development & Mobile Money for the Unbanked

*Due to the event taking place in Barcelona please note that VAT on entries will be charged at 16%. (Official Spanish VAT rate)

Please ensure you mark your payment with your Unique Reference Number, which you are provided with once your entry is submitted) when making payment.

Please quote your unique entry reference number. Entries will not be processed until full payment has been received.

Payment & Closing Date:
Complete entries must be received and paid in full by the final deadline date to be considered. Entry fees paid by international money order must be received, together with the completed entry form, prior to, or by the final deadline. Entries and their associated entry fees received after the closing date of Monday 23rd November 2009 (5pm GMT) will be returned.

The entry fee for the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards helps cover the administrative costs associated with collating, reviewing and evaluating the hundreds of entries received each year. Entry fees also contribute towards pre- and post-event publicity. Entry fees are payable for each entry submitted. One entry is defined as a submission proposing a product, service, initiative or company for one Award category or sub-category. If the same product, service, initiative or company is proposed for two or more Award categories or sub-categories, two or more entry fees are payable as appropriate. Entry fees are non-refundable. A secure online payment system is provided by Secure Trading.

Additional Supporting Materials:
Additional materials are accepted for certain categories (please check each category description under 'Entry process & Formats'):

Please do not send supporting materials for categories where they are not required.

Your Unique Reference Number should be clearly marked on the supporting materials when sent to support your entry. Supporting handsets are required for categories 1a) Best Mobile Game, and 8a) Best Mobile Handset or Devices.

The handset/device entered must also include a fully working UNLOCKED SIM card for our judges to fully access and test the applications and features of the phone.

Following your web entry, you will be allocated a unique reference number by email. Please send your handset clearly marked with the unique reference number you are allocated after submitting your web entry.

Please ensure that you send a working, fully functional model of each handset entered (to enable our judges to review each product entered in detail). Supporting handsets /devices must arrive at the GSMA (at the address below) after 5th October 2009 and by no later than 30th November 2009.

Supporting files for upload should only be submitted in .jpeg (for pictures), .mpeg (for video) formats. If using sound, entries should be submitted with English language English translation of the text or script.

By submitting any materials, you grant the GSMA permission to utilise them in promotions and other activities relating to the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards.

Handsets or devices submitted in support of an entry to categories 1a (Best Mobile Game) or 8a (Best Mobile Handset or Device) can be collected after the judging and the Awards have been made. These should be collected from the Awards Administrator, at the above address (GSMA, Seventh Floor, 5 New Street Square, New Fetter Lane, London, EC4 3BF, UK) - commencing 2nd March 2010. It is the responsibility of entering companies to arrange for the collection of submitted products. Companies intending to have their product collected after the Awards should indicate this clearly when submitting the product.

Judging Process:
Entries will be judged on the basis of the information provided to the independent judging panel on the entry form and additional supporting materials where required (see above). Details of the judging panel meetings will not be disclosed.

No correspondence will be entered into by the GSMA regarding validation or qualification of entries

Confidentiality:
Entries will be treated as strictly confidential. Only details of the award winners and selected commended or nominated entries in each category will be published.

Eligibility:
Please refer to the individual category descriptions for eligibility details.

Winners:
The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence will be entered into. The nominees will be notified, and announced publicly in a press release, prior to the Mobile World Congress in February 2010 in time to make arrangements to attend the presentation ceremony. Presentation of the awards will be made on Tuesday 16th February 2010 (full details to be confirmed nearer the time).

Promotion:
By entering the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards, companies are expressly authorising the GSM Association to use the specific text and visual materials submitted for the purposes of promoting the GSM industry in GSMA presentations, reports for publication, web site and media activities as well as all other forms of promotional/publicity materials.
